The "Vasilius" ship sailing under the Georgian flag was detained in a Libyan port this week, the Georgian Foreign Ministry told Trend.

The crew consists of 11 sailors, including Georgian, and Azerbaijani and Ukrainian citizens.

The vessel is owned by a Greek businessman, and was chartered by an Italian company to ship cement to a Lebanese firm.

The ship was detained upon the Lebanese firm's request after the sailors claimed that some of the cargo was damaged in a storm.

The Georgian Foreign Ministry reported that the Italian company has already paid the Libyan firm's expenses. Only "technical, procedural issues" remain to be resolved, the ministry said.

"Soon all of the crew members will released," the ministry added.

The ministry stressed that the Georgian embassies in all three countries were involved in settling the incident.
