Republics of Central Asia and Transcaucasia will be key markets for Kazakh grain in 2010, Kazakh National Company Food Contract Corporation Commercial Affairs Managing Director Daulet Uvashev said in an interview with Trend.

"Due to the fact that Russia has imposed a ban on the export of its grain and Ukraine imposed restrictions on the export, Kazakhstan in its grain exports will focus on the republics of Central Asia and Caucasus this year," Uvashev said.

According to him, Kazakhstan's grain exports in the current marketing year will be at the level of two million tons in the Central Asian republics.

"Approximately the same amount we can export to Azerbaijan and Georgia," Uvashev said.

As it was reported, Kazakhstan's Agriculture Ministry's forecast for crop this year is 14-15 million tons, export potential - at the level of eight million tons.
