Roughly 1.2 million tourists have visited Georgia so far this year, Department of Tourism and Resorts Chairman Maya Sidamonidze told the Rustavi-2 television channel today.
According to the official, the figure is 36 percent higher than last year.
"Next year, we expect even higher growth," Sidamonidze noted.
She added that this is the first year in Georgian history when over 1 million tourists visited the country.
Sidamonidze said the growing number of tourists is due to successful tourism projects, improving infrastructure and effective advertising campaigns and informational activities.
