Azerbaijani National Confederation of Entrepreneurs offers to introduce a number of tax concessions for the further development of entrepreneurship in the country, including the tourism sector, Chairman Mammad Musayev said at a press conference at the New Azerbaijan Party's headquarters on the results of the confederation's activity in 2010 and plans for the current year.

"The confederation is holding discussions with the government on providing tourist companies with tax concessions in the form of tax exemption during equipment and technology import into the country. Earlier, the government provided such concessions for entrepreneurs operating in the agricultural sector, and as also all equipment is imported for the development of the tourism sector, we consider providing the same concessions in this sphere as important," Musayev said.

According to him, these measures are aimed at developing the sector by reducing costs for entrepreneurs.

"As 2011 is declared the Year of Tourism, the confederation takes aim at the activation in this sphere. It is expected to hold a meeting soon, which will be attended by tourism companies, as well as the Culture and Tourism Ministry. The meeting will be held to discuss opportunities to support this sector, including increase its competitiveness," Musayev said.

According to him, the confederation is also discussing with the government such changes to the tax code as changing the upper limit on physical entities' income, taxable rate at 30 percent, from the current 2,000 manat to 3,000 manat, as well as reducing VAT rates for entrepreneurs functioning in the country's regions.
