The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) aims to maintain inflation at the one-mark level in 2011, CBA Deputy Chairman Aftandil Babayev said on Tuesday.
"A technical assessment shows that the goal is realistic," he added.
Consumer prices and service tariffs rose by 2.2 percent in February compared to January and increased by 8.9 percent in January-February compared to the same period in 2010.
Food prices rose by 2.2 percent, non-food prices by 0.1 percent and service tariffs by 4.3 percent.
Food prices rose by 13.7 percent, and non-food prices by 2.8 percent, while service prices rose by two percent compared to January-February 2010.
Despite a nearly nine-percent increase in consumer prices over the first two months of 2011, Babayev said reaching the one-mark level is realistic.
"Developed countries' food markets recorded a sharp rise in price in January-February, but then prices stabilized," Babayev said. "To achieve this goal, we must take into account the dynamics of the changes in oil prices, which is the main factor affecting prices."
