The Azerbaijani insurance company Meqa Sıgorta pays special attention to agricultural insurance, PR manager Elnur Eyvazov told Trend on Monday.
"Today, insurance in agriculture is among the most promising directions of the Azerbaijani insurance market," Eyvazov said.
He said that the company will actively expand agricultural insurance after resuming activity throughout its regional branches.
"We have five regional branches. After re-branding, they have temporarily suspended activity. As soon as they resume, we will begin working on agricultural insurance," Eyvazov said.
Meqa Sıgorta has begun to operate under a new brand since Oct.1, 2010, and has a license to provide 29 types of insurance services, four of which are compulsory.
According to the State Insurance Supervision Service under the Azerbaijani Finance Ministry, in the first quarter, the company collected 36,200 manat with zero payments.
Eyvazov said the company is working to attract social interest in this type of insurance.
"If the relevant state agencies and companies working in this sphere, in particular leasing companies, are able to successfully conduct enlightening work for the population, then this insurance is very promising. Especially given that last year's natural disasters throughout the country's regions gave it a boost of support," Eyvazov said.
The official exchange rate is 0.7913 manat to $1 on May 2.
