In July 3,203 Azerbaijani citizens visited Adjara for tourism purposes. The Azerbaijanis rank third among foreign tourists, who visited the autonomous republic, Adjara's Tourism Department told Trend.
According to statistics, Adjara was visited by 13,271 Turkish visitors, 4,012 Iranian tourists, and 3,203 Azerbaijani tourists in July.
Total number of foreign tourists amounted to 130,483 people in July, which is 74.7 percent higher than last year's figure.
In July 2011 Adjara was visited only by 371,576 visitors, which is 56.5percent more than the same period of last year, while this figure rose by 392.2 percent compared to July 2009.
According to the Tourism Department, Adjara was visited by 237,457 tourists in July 2010, while 94,752 tourists in 2009.
