The Georgian Statistics Office specified the data on foreign direct investments in 2010. They were increased from $553.1 million to $814 million.

The Georgian Statistics Office said that the differences between preliminary and final data are stipulated by a transition to a new methodology. It involves the use of consolidated financial indices of companies.

According to the preliminary data as of March, the volume of direct foreign investments in Georgia decreased by 16 percent in 2010 compared to the previous year. However, the final revised data show a 24-percent increase compared to the previous year.

The revised data of foreign direct investments amounted to 7 percent of GDP in 2010. The figure was six percent in 2009 and 12 percent in 2008.

According to the preliminary data, most investments were received from the companies registered in the Netherlands - $143.2 million.
