President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov has canceled a series of documents of permissive character in the sphere of entrepreneurial activities.
According to the order on measures to remove bureaucratic barriers and further enhance the freedom of entrepreneurship, a total of 50 documents in environmental management, production, foreign trade, trade and catering shall be cancelled.
State agencies and local authorities are prohibited to introduce new types of permits and licensing not envisaged by the law.
According to the document, by the end of September, the Cabinet of Ministers should conduct an inventory of departmental regulations and decide on the abolition of licensing procedures that do not meet modern conditions and requirements.
By Oct. 1, 2011, the state agencies should make concrete proposals to cardinally simplify and reduce costs of procedures related to documentation for construction and renovation of production facilities.
From Oct. 1, 2011, a new procedure will be established, according to which, the period of consideration and coordination of applications for allocation of land for placement of small industrial enterprises should not exceed one month.
The period of issuing licencing documents will be limited to not more than 30 working days from the date of application submitted by business entity, except for certain specific activities, determined by the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan.
