Iran's carpet export will reach $600 million in current solar year (started on March 20, 2011), Fars News Agency reported quoting Head of Iran National Carpet Center Feysal Mardasi as saying.

"Despite economic crisis in Europe and current situations in Arab countries, Iran's carpet export will increase to $600 million in current year," he said.

He noted US sanction against import of Persian carpet was politically motivated while Iran will choose new destination markets including Brazil, China and South Africa for carpet export.

Carpet export to Brazil, China, Malaysia, East Asia and South Africa indicates possibility to increase amount of export to $600 million, he added.

Iran exported carpet during first five months of current year in amount of $182 million. Government plans to export $45 billion non-oil goods and technical services.

China is the first destination for Iran's non-oil exports while Iraq, UAE and India stands on lower levels, around 60 percent of country's non-oil goods are exported to the following countries while Iran imports 60 percent of goods from UAE, Germany, China, Turkey, Korea and Switzerland.

According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Iran is the third largest country in the Middle East and Central Asia in terms of exports and imports.
