The Central Eurasian Banking Federation negotiates with two banking associations to expand their ranks, the federation president Eldar Ismailov told Trend on Friday.
"At present, the negotiations on membership are being held between the Russian Association of Regional Banks and the Banking Association for Central and Eastern Europe," he said. "The first phase of negotiations has been completed."
He said that the internal operations are underway to organize the effective activity of the federation. The main goal is to connect the federation to the real financial and credit mechanisms to regulate the economy of member-countries.
The Azerbaijani Justice Ministry registered the Central Eurasian Banking Federation in August 2010. The founders of the federation are the Association of Banks of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine. The federation members are the Association of Banks of Turkey and Tajikistan.
The headquarters of the Central Eurasian Banking Federation is in Baku.
