As of Oct.1, 4.459 million payment cards were in use in Azerbaijan. It exceeds the similar index in September by 0.2 percent, and 9.9 percent compared to the same period of 2010, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan said on Monday.
Total turnover on payment cards through ATMs and POS-terminals as of September amounted to 626 million manat, while total number of operations - 4,350.
The number of operations with debit cards hit 4,083 in September. Total amount of operations with debit cards hit 549 million manat.
About 3,840 operations were held with debit cards through the ATM worth 516 million manat and 138,000 operations through the POS- terminals to the amount of 19 million manat.
The number of operations by credit cards hit 267,000 worth 78 million manat.
A total of 98,000 operations worth 28 million manat were carried out by credit cards through the ATM and 34,000 operations to the amount of 17 million manat through POS-terminals.
As of Oct.1, 2,056 ATMs were in use in the country. About 1,144 ATMs are located in Baku, while 912 - in other cities and regions.
During the reporting period, the number of POS-terminals totaled 12,204 units, 11,207 of which are located in Baku, while 997 units in other cities and regions.
