Food prices increased by 6.5 percent in Kazakhstan in January 2012 compared to January 2011

Food prices increased by 6.5 percent in Kazakhstan in January 2012 compared to January 2011, Kazakh Statistics Agency reported.

According to the agency, cereals rose in prices by 20.8 percent in this period, confectionary by 8.3 percent, dairy products by 7.6, bakery and pastry products by 6.7 percent, pasta by 6 percent, coffee, tea and cocoa by 5.5 percent, alcoholic beverages by 4.9 percent, oils and fats by 4.8 percent, bread by 2.5 percent, flour by 1.9 percent.

Meanwhile, sugar prices fall by 16.4 percent and fruits and vegetables fell in prices by 12.3 percent in January, 2011- January, 2012.

Meat and meat products rose in prices in Kazakhstan by 20.5 percent in this period. Beef prices increased by 30.4 percent, mutton by 27.9 percent, horse meat by 20.5 percent, pork by 12.4 percent, sausages by 11.2 percent, poultry by 5.7 percent.
