Azerbaijani Transport Ministry announced a tender to select a contractor for construction and rendering services in the territory of the port complex, supply and delivery of materials within the project of construction of a new international port, the Respublika newspaper reported on Friday.
Application for participation in the tender and other documents should be submitted before 17:00, May 8, 2012. Tender proposals and bank guarantee, in turn, should be submitted before 17:00, May 18 to the address: Baku, AZ 1122, Tbilisi Avenue, 1054, Azerbaijani Transport Ministry.
Opening of tender will take place at 11:00 on May 21.

Construction of the new international port began in November 2010. It is located in 65 kilometers south of Baku in the Alat settlement.
It was previously planned that the construction of a new international sea port in the Alat settlement will be implemented in three phases and must be completed by 2015. The first phase of the project involves the construction of two ferry and three cargo berths for receiving containers, "ro-ro" vessels and conventional (universal) dry cargo ships. The second phase of the project involves the construction of three more cargo berths, and the third - the construction of additional two cargo berths. The port will be able to receive up to 11.6 million tons of cargo.
