Uzbek banks' total assets increase by 7.6 percent

The total assets of Uzbek commercial banks increased by 7.6 percent in January-March 2012 and amounted to 29.54 trillion sums compared to 2011, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan said on Monday.

The total loan portfolio of banks increased by 9.3 percent since early 2012 and amounted to 17.102 trillion sums.

The total amount of deposits attracted by banks amounted to 18.862 trillion sums increasing by 4.4 percent compared to the figure of early 2012. Savings of population increased by 1.5 percent - up to 6.264 trillion sums.

The aggregate bank capital increased by 5.6 percent in the first quarter and amounted to 5.632 trillion soums as of April 1, 2012.

The Uzbek banking system is represented by 30 banks, including three state, five - with foreign capital, 12 - joint stock and 10 - private.

Total assets of Uzbek banks increased by 32.4 percent and amounted to 27.45 trillion sums in 2011 compared to 2010, the total loan portfolio - 35.6 percent up to 15.65 trillion sums, the aggregate bank capital - by 30 percent - up to 5.334 trillion sums.

The official exchange rate is 1.853.01 sums per $1 on April 23.
