The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan held a meeting with the German Ambassador Wolfgang Neuen, during which the two sides exchanged views on topical issues of bilateral relations and prospects for their further development, press service of the Foreign Ministry said.
Germany is one of the main trade partners of Uzbekistan in Europe. Investment projects totaling over one billion euros are implemented in Uzbekistan together with the leading companies of Germany.
The German government provided more than 300 million euros to Uzbekistan in the frame of financial and technical cooperation, including 248.2 million euro in the framework of financial cooperation, and about 58.4 million euros in the framework of technical cooperation.
Uzbek-German trade increased by 13.8 percent - up to $549.5 million in 2011.
Some 114 enterprises established with participation of investors from Germany are operating in Uzbekistan and representatives of 50 German firms and companies are accredited to the country.
Earlier this year the Uzbek-German Architectural Center to prepare master's degree on "Conservation of buildings, cities, historical monuments" opened at the Tashkent Institute of Architecture and Construction.
Currently, the German Air Force uses civilian airport near the town of Termez on the border with Afghanistan for its own purposes. Official lease agreement was signed in February 2002 and prolonged in 2010.
The airport is used for the transportation of humanitarian assistance and logistic support of German troops in Afghanistan.
