The main topics of discussion at the second meeting of the heads of trade promotion organisations (TPO) of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) held in Baku will be the elimination of some tariffs and the application of measures to promote trade among the ECO countries, the deputy secretary general of ECO, Fatih Unlu, said at a meeting on Wednesday.

"There are already some agreements on the creation of favourable conditions for the promotion of trade between member states of the organisation," Unlu said.

He said the delegates will also discuss issues of creating conditions for effective use of resources, supporting countries to implement programmes to increase the capacity of trade relations, expand cooperation within the private sector, strengthen its activities, as well as create the necessary infrastructure and strengthening of regional coordination.

One of the priority issues is raising funds, as well as capacity building in various areas, particularly in the field of standardisation.

"The high quality of goods encourages trade, so the agenda also includes issues related to branding, advertising, trade finance, effective information exchange, facilitation of trade and customs procedures, organisation of exhibitions and improving the quality of the entrepreneurial culture and commerce in general," Unlu said.
