Turkmenistan, EU discuss economic cooperation

Turkmenistan and the EU have discussed economic cooperation during a meeting between head of the European Commission Program Assunta Testa, who is on a working visit to Turkmenistan, and the Finance Ministry, the Turkmen State News Agency said on Friday.

The sides discussed the prospects for further expansion of business and humanitarian contacts given the priorities of Turkmenistan's policy and its dynamic partnership with the EU.

The topic of discussion was issues related to the implementation of projects of European Commission in the field of education and agriculture, as well as the possibility of developing new joint programs.

Reaffirming the commitment to strengthening of productive bilateral cooperation, the main lines of which are enshrined in the EU strategy for Central Asia, the participants called for an intensification of business ties.

During the visit to Ashgabat, the head of the European Commission programme will be received in the Ministry of Economy and Development, Ministry of Education and the National Institute of Education, where the sides will be discuss further cooperation in the framework of the European Commission projects implemented in Turkmenistan.
