IDB to send second mission to evaluate Azerbaijan's projects

The second mission assessing IDB projects in Azerbaijan is expected to arrive in September and October, the Baku office told Trend on Monday.

"The first mission will visit Azerbaijan in June," the bank said. "It is of a preliminary nature. Following this visit, the mission prepared a relevant report. But the bank's experts will get answers to their questions during subsequent visits to Azerbaijan."

Trend previously reported that the difficulties encountered while implementing the projects were discussed during the visit of the first mission. The appropriate recommendations were given. The plans and prospects for further cooperation were discussed.

The evaluation concerned the IDB projects in private and public sectors.

The IDB has signed 17 loan agreements for 15 projects in Azerbaijan totaling $726.9 million since the beginning of its activity in the country and till Jan. 1.

Some $501 million or 68.9 per cent was spent from the total volume of credits allocated prior to January 1, 2012. Some $240.6 million of IDB loans was spent in 2011. Some $37.1 million of loans was repaid to the IDB by Jan. 1, 2012.

Azerbaijan has been a member of the Islamic bank since 1991 with a share in the bank's capital of 0.13 per cent.
