JSC Azerbaijan Railways has transported 11.1 million tons of cargo in January-June, head of JSC Azerbaijan Railways Arif Askerov said on Tuesday.
This figure amounted to 22.1 million manat as a result of 2011.
"Some 2.3 million tons out of the total volume of transported goods accounts for inland freight, export operations - 1.9 million tons, the import operation - 3.1 million tons, transit goods - 3.8 million tons," Askerov said.
He noted that 6.7 million tons of goods were sent from the railway stations within six months, 4.6 million tons of which account for the oil cargo. In particular, 2.5 million tons fell on transit oil.
The total volume of passenger traffic amounted to 1.39 million people in the first half of the year. In particular, 1.36 million passengers were sent from the railway stations for the period.
