The Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan plans to sign a contract with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (China) and Nokia Siemens Networks GmbH & CO.KG. (Germany) for the purchase and installation of telecommunications equipment, an official Turkmen source said on Saturday.
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov signed corresponding resolution "in order to increase the capacity of the national cellular network, availability of telecommunications services provided to the population, as well as improve their quality."
In particular, signing of the contracts with Huawei is planned for the purchase and installation of equipment for such telecommunication systems as CDMA cellular network Altyn Asyr and Ashgabat city telephone network. The contracts with Nokia Siemens provide the purchase and installation of telecommunications equipment for cellular networks Altyn Asyr.
Established in 2004 the Altyn Asyr cellular network has joined global trade body GSM Association (GSMA) where the Tm Cell - a national network of cellular communication companies in Turkmenistan is registered.
