Iran’s annual cement output planned at 75 million tons

Iran is planning to produce 75 million tons of cement by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2013), ISNA quoted Iranian Deputy Industry Minister, Vajihollah Jafari, as saying.

The cement production capacity will stand at 86 million tons by the end of this year, he noted.

According to him, the share of the mining sector in non-oil exports and industrial exports is about 30 percent and 40 percent, respectively.

Iran exported over 6.8 million tons of cement within the first six months of the current (Iranian) year.

The exports grew by 26.4 percent compared to the same period last year.

Iran produced over 66.4 million tons of cement in the past calendar year, showing 8 percent rise compared to the previous year.

Industry, Mine and Trade Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari said the country's cement production capacity will reach 110 million tons by 2015.

He added that Iran holds two percent of the world's total mineral reserves.
