Deposits of the population, drawn to the banking system from the Azerbaijani regions (except Baku), as of Sept.1, 2012 amounted to 349 million manat or 7.8 percent of total volume of bank deposits, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan's statistics report said on Saturday.
The volume of deposits in Baku amounted to 4.113.6 billion manat, while the deposits in national currency hit 2.269.7 billion manat. The average interest rate for the country during the reporting period amounted to 8.6 percent, in Baku - 8.7 percent.
The amount of deposits on Absheron economic region amounted to 105.9 million manat, with an average rate of 9.2 percent, Aran - 56.8 million manat (5.0 percent), Mountain-Shirvan - 7.8 million manat (6.8 percent), Ganja -Gazakh - 69.05 million manat (7.5 percent), Guba-Khachmaz - 28.13 million manat (6.9 percent), Lankaran - 24.8 million manat (7.2 percent), Sheki-Zagatala - 24.02 million manat (5.3 percent), the Upper Karabakh - 7.8 million manat (4.0 percent), Kalbajar-Lachin - 1.76 million manat (5.8 percent), Nakhchivan - 22.9 million manat (3.2 percent).
In January-August deposits of physical entities increased by 8.32 percent and amounted to 4.462.6 million manat.
The official exchange rate is 0.7850 AZN to $1 on Oct.27.
