Expert: Azerbaijan has significant potential for non-oil exports

Taking into account the pace of developing the non-oil sector, Azerbaijan is interested in cooperation with European countries to develop the export of non-oil products, secretary general of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan Mammadali Efendiyev said at a workshop on entrepreneurs’ export potential development in Baku on Monday.

Taking into account the pace of developing the non-oil sector, Azerbaijan is interested in cooperation with European countries to develop the export of non-oil products, secretary general of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan Mammadali Efendiyev said at a workshop on entrepreneurs' export potential development in Baku on Monday.

"The production of non-oil products in Azerbaijan is on the rise year after year," he said. "We are interested in searching for new foreign partners to enhance the export potential of small and medium enterprises, that is non-oil exports, as well as to study the experience of European countries in this field."

He added that Azerbaijan is also is working with the aim of joining the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

Taking part in a workshop in Azerbaijan, expert Henry Zimmerman from Germany said there is significant potential for non-oil exports. However, small and medium entrepreneurs must work more to develop this area.

Local businessmen, as well as the experts from Germany and Spain attended the workshop.
