Tbilisi Metro employees may strike, head of the Union Underground Besik Kharatishvili told reporters on Wednesday during an extended meeting of the Georgian Dream fraction "Georgian dream - Tbilisi".
According to him, subway employee dissatisfaction is caused by unfair salary schemes that have been proposed by the Transport Company of Tbilisi.
According to him, wages will increase by 30 % for those Underground employees receiving low salaries. Those operating in difficult and hazardous conditions will receive supplements to their fixed salaries of 30 and 38 GEL.
Along with this, as noted by Kharatishvili, salary increases for these workers is not considered in the increase scheme for July either. The union also demands the re-employment of employees dismissed for political reasons and the recovery of classes and categories.
"Warning letters will be sent today to the Mayor of Tbilisi Gigi Ugulava and the head of the transport company Tbilisi Levan Koplatadze. The warning strike will take place after a two-week period in the event of nonfulfillment of demands,"- Kharatishvili said.
He didn't exclude the possibility of the strike reaching a large-scale level.
