In January 2013 freight turnover at the Batumi Sea Port hit 200,228 tons of dry cargo. As a port official said, this amount was a record for the winter period over its 135-year history.
Batumi Sea Port breaks ‘winter’ record

In January 2013 freight turnover at the Batumi Sea Port hit 200,228 tons of dry cargo. As a port official said, this amount was a record for the winter period over its 135-year history.

This means the production programme plan for January was over target by 77,228 tons (63 per cent) and as a result, managing director of Batumi Sea Port L. Jobava congratulated the staff.

Jobava thanked them and expressed his deep gratitude to everyone for honest and responsible service and wished them success in achieving even higher levels.

During the reporting period, Batumi Sea Port's main cargo which is raw sugar and ammonium nitrate showed the maximum rate of growth. This is also seen in grain cargo and cement. The share of exports and transit cargo hit 40 per cent of the total cargo traffic.

In January 2013 the port handled 59 vessels.
