The Tashkent Economic Court extended a procedure of temporary governance in Uzdunrobita (a wholly-owned subsidiary of "Mobile TeleSystems" (MTS) in Uzbekistan) until April 22 at its meeting on Monday, a source in government circles told Trend on Monday.
"The next hearing on the operator's bankruptcy is scheduled for April 22," the source said.
It was previously reported that "Uzdunrobita" appealed to the Tashkent Economic Court with the statement on its bankruptcy in January.
This statement was filed due to a failure to fulfill obligations in accordance with the judgment of the Tashkent City Court. According to it, the amount of financial claims towards "Uzdunrobita" was set at $ 600 million.
A procedure of observation was introduced and a temporary manager was appointed.
At present, according to a final judgment of the court, all remaining funds to the amount of $150 million were written off of Uzdunrobita's accounts.
"Uzdunrobita", the largest Uzbek mobile operator, has been under inspection since last June. In July, MTS disconnected the network throughout Uzbekistan at the request of the State Communication Inspection.
In September, the Tashkent City Criminal Court decided to transfer Uzdunrobita's property to the state.
The total amount of claims made by the Prosecutor General's Office, antimonopoly bodies, Agency for Communication and Information and tax bodies against the company exceeds $1 billion. This is the amount of MTS's investments made in the development of business in Uzbekistan.
