Iran has produced 16.076 million tons of steel products in the first 11 months of the current Iranian Calendar year, which began on March 20, 2012.
The figure shows a 3.2 per cent increase compared to the same period of the previous year, the IRNA News Agency reported.
Iran has also produced 13.596 million tons of crude steel in the mentioned period, which is 5.2 per cent more than same time span last year.
Iran's annual crude steel consumption currently stands at 25 million tons.
Iran's crude steel output amounted to 16 million tons in the first 11 months of the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 20, 2012, ILNA reported.
The figure shows a 7 percent rise compared to the same period of last year.
Some 3.2 million tons of steel products were imported during the mentioned period of time, showing a 36 percent fall year on year.
Iranian Deputy Industry Minister Vajihollah Jafari said in April 2012 that the country's annual crude steel output is projected to reach 55 million tons by 2025.
"The output stood at 12.7 million tons last year," he said, adding that Iran also had produced some 16 million tons of steel products.
The World Steel Association announced in its latest report that Iran with a total production of 14.46 million tons ranked as the world's 15th largest crude steel producer in 2012.
Deputy Director of the Iranian Trade Promotion Organization, Kioumars Fathollah Kermanshahi, also said last month that Iran's crude steel production will reach 17.5 million tons in the current Iranian calendar year (which ends March 20).
Iran will become one of the world's main steel exporters by March 2016, Industry, Mine and Trade Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari said in May 2011.
