Major road repair programme adopted in Uzbekistan

The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbeskitan approved an executive order, a programme of major repairs of the public automobile roads of national and international importance for 2013.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbeskitan approved an executive order, a programme of major repairs of the public automobile roads of national and international importance for 2013.

According to the programme, Uzbekistan is going to conduct major repairs over 210.3 kilometres of public roads and 305.6 metres of bridges in 2013.

The estimated cost is 260 billion UZS, including 202.054 billion UZS for major repairs of the public roads of national importance and 46.546 for major repairs of international ones.

The programme is going to be funded by the means of the Republican Road Fund under the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan.

According to Uzavtodor SJSC, it is planned to fulfil construction and reconstruction works of 530 kilometres of roads along the national highway of Uzbekistan at a total cost of $590 million.

The total length of roads in Uzbekistan is more than 183,000 kilometres, including over 42,600 kilometres of public roads of international, national and local (regional) importance, 67,2 00 kilometres of intra-economic rural roads, over 61,.600 kilometres of rural and urban streets , over 5400 kilometres of road belonging to enterprises and over 6600 kilometres of inspectorial agency roads.

At least 20 international transport routes pass through the country.
