French company to build international university in Turkmenistan

According to a released decree of the President of Turkmenistan, Bouygues, one of the largest construction companies in France, won a contract in Turkmenistan for the design and construction of Ashgabat International University that will serve 2,000 people.

The university's campus will cover a total area of 40,910 square meters. External inlet power supply systems will also be installed under the contract terms.

The document gives an April 2013 start date for construction and an April 2014 commission.

According to the previous Turkmen media reports, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov ordered an examination of issues of opening a higher education institution with English as the language of instruction in Ashgabat.

It is planned that this education institution will prepare highly qualified specialists in different fields at the level compliant with the international standards. It is expected that the structure of the future university will include Faculties of International Economics, International Law and Management. The instruction will be resident, daytime and paid.

Organization of the educational process in general must meet the educational standards and curricula of universities granting bachelor's and master's degrees. The campus will provide accommodation for students and teachers.
