Establishing direct flight from Iran to the United States is on agenda of Iran's Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), head of the ICAO, Hamid Reza Pahlavani said, Mehr news agency reported.

He went on to note that, establishing a direct flight between the two countries requires cooperation between civil aviation organizations` coordination.

On September 30, Iranian media outlets quoted the caretaker of the High Council of Iranian Affairs Abroad, Akbar Torkan as saying Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has ordered a study of the feasibility of such a flight.

"Rouhani stressed providing better services to Iranians across the globe," he added.

The relation between Tehran and Washington seems to be warming up. In a historic move, US President Barack Obama and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani had a phone conversation. This was the first direct communication between the leaders of the two countries after the decades.

Iran's Presidential Office confirmed the historic conversation and said Obama and Rouhani expressed the political will of Tehran and Washington to resolve the dispute over Iran's nuclear program.

It added that the two leaders, who had talks before Rouhani's departure from New York, emphasized the need to find a swift resolution to Iran's nuclear issue.

Obama said that he and President Rouhani have given orders for the establishment of teams tasked with drafting a deal on Iran's nuclear energy program.

Obama stressed that the resolution on the nuclear issue could create a mutually respectful relationship between Washington and Tehran.

But he also noted that Washington and Tehran have a tough task ahead for the re-establishment of their relations.
