Azerbaijan proposes reviving Council of Heads of Inquiry and Investigation Services in Europe

As a vice-president of the World Customs Organisation (WCO), Azerbaijan has proposed reviving the activity of the Council of Heads of Inquiry and Investigation Services in Europe, Chairman of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee Aydin Aliyev said on Thursday at the tenth meeting of the Committee of Heads of Law Enforcement Units of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of the CIS member states.

By Abbas Akhundov - Trend: As a vice-president of the World Customs Organisation (WCO), Azerbaijan has proposed reviving the activity of the Council of Heads of Inquiry and Investigation Services in Europe, Chairman of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee Aydin Aliyev said on Thursday at the tenth meeting of the Committee of Heads of Law Enforcement Units of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of the CIS member states.

According to Aliyev, the event will be held at the initiative of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee in Skopje (Macedonia) on November 25-26.

Representatives of the customs services from 37 countries have already voiced their intention to attend the event.

Besides customs officers, representatives from large companies will also attend the meeting.

The main issues on the agenda will be the fight against customs offenses, illegal drug trafficking and tobacco.

The Azerbaijani customs was elected WCO vice-president in June 2013.
