Azerbaijan, IMF discuss prospects of cooperation in customs sphere

Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 13

Emin Aliyev -Trend: The State Customs Committee (SCC) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation, the SCC statement released on Nov.13 said.

According to the statement, the exchange of views took place during a meeting between the Chairman of the State Customs Committee Aydin Aliyev and the head of the IMF mission to Azerbaijan Raja Almarzogi.

The head of the State Customs Committee informed the guests about the history of the Customs Service, the current achievements and future tasks. In addition, Aliyev said that on November 14 Gabala will host the next sixth International Forum on Trade Promotion in the Silk Road countries and the role of the customs authorities in facilitating to the promotion.
In turn, the head of the IMF mission welcomed the versatile development of the country. According to Almarzogi, International Monetary Fund attaches great importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan. He also reiterated the appreciation by the fund of the reforms carried out in recent years in customs sphere.

In addition, during the meeting they discussed the latest trends in the field of customs cooperation, forecasts and estimates for 2014-2015, the current state of the process of Azerbaijan's membership in the WTO and other issues of mutual interest.
