Number of people crossing Azerbaijani-Iranian border checkpoint increases by quarter

By Tamkin Jafarov - Trend: Products totalling $4,224 million were exported from Iran to Azerbaijan through Bilasuvar border checkpoint in the eight months of the Iranian calendar (year in Iran starts on March 21), director of the Iran's Bilasuvar customs checkpoint, Ahad Mohammad said, IRIB News reported on Nov. 23.

According to Ahad Mohammad, during this period the Iranian tourists imported (portfolio trading) some 3185 tons of products to Azerbaijan.

Ahad Mohammad noted that as a result of this the volume of portfolio trading grew by 11 per cent.

Over this period, 690,000 people crossed Bilasuvar border checkpoint, which is 25 per cent more than the same period of the last year, he said.

Over six months of the current year 6,000 tons of goods worth $9 million were exported through the Astara border checkpoint.
