Fare payment cards for public transport in Baku will become a full payment debit type in the future, the Bank of Azerbaijan which issues the cards told Trend on Jan.15.

"In future various innovations are planned, including the possibility of using the card as a method of full payment. To do this, the owner will need to apply to one of the bank's branches where upon presentation of an identity card, the fare payment card will be replaced by a bank debit card with the possibility of fare payment on public transport," the bank said.
Plastic public transport cards has been sold in Baku since Jan.14. Currently, the cards are used on two buses No 10 and No 95. By the end of February, they will be used on 650 buses covering 36 routes.

The card will cost three manat, of which two manat is an insurance deposit and one manat will be transferred to its balance. The special readers called verifiers have been already installed on 1000 buses operating in the city.
The official rate on January 15 is 0,7845 AZN/USD.
