Turkmenistan, Iran sign protocol on economic cooperation

The outcome of the thirteenth session of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian joint commission on economic cooperation recently held in Ashgabat was the signing of a relevant protocol, the Turkmen government said today.

The issues of further expansion of mutually beneficial economic relations in the fields of trade, energy, oil and gas, agriculture and water resources, as well as education, health, culture, tourism and sport were discussed, according to the report.

'Turkmenistan and Iran have reached a high level of cooperation and trust on a wide range of bilateral cooperation', a statement said.

"The annual volume of trade between Iran and Turkmenistan is about $5 billion and this figure may double in the next few years," according to the Iranian side.
