Kazakhstan increased its iron ore production by 0.6 per cent to 11.991 million tons in January-March 2014 compared to the same period of 2013, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported with the reference to the Kazakh Statistics Agency.
Extraction of copper ore reached 9.052 million tons (13.3 percent decrease), copper-zinc ore - 1.068 million tons (1.6 percent decrease) and lead-zinc ore - 1.838 million tons (1.7 percent increase) in this period.
Kazakhstan increased steel production by 19.3 percent to 912,100 tones in January-March 2014 compared to the same period of 2013.
The country increased ferroalloys production by 4 percent to 418,900 tones, flat rolled steel production - by 20,7 percent to 591,000 tones and galvanized steel production - by 15.2 percent to 131,600 tones in the reporting period.
Kazakhstan's tin and tinned steel sheet production fell by 44.5 percent to 17,100 tones in January-March 2014.
