By Emil Ismayilov - Trend:

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) signed an agreement on the development of potato seed production not susceptible to infection, the ministry said on May 6.

The agreement was signed by Azerbaijani Minister of Agriculture Heydar Asadov and FAO sub-regional coordinator for Central Asia Mustapha Sinaceur.

The project will be implemented within two years.

The project implementation will positively affect the development of seed-growing, which will create conditions for the restoration of potato production for food and commercial purposes.
The project is important for the potato seed-growing in Azerbaijan, certification and skills development.

The new project will provide technical assistance in testing and demonstrating new kinds, as well as in the national certification system in the seed production. The project will promote the development of national skills to reveal viruses and to study potato pathology.
