Iran imported $33.549 billion worth of goods during the first seven months of 2014, which indicates a rise by 30.14 percent, compared to the same period of the preceding year.

Iran imported some 24.296 million tonnes of goods during that period which is 32.25 percent more compared to the first seven months of 2013, Iranian Customs Administration said in its latest monthly report released on Sept. 2.

Iran purchased 69.26 percent of its total imported goods in the first seven months of 2014 from five countries. The United Arab Emirates, China, India, South Korea and Turkey are the mentioned five counties.

The Islamic Republic imported 5.596 million tonnes of goods worth $8.486 billion from the United Arab Emirates in the mentioned period, which accounts for 25.29 percent of its total imports in terms of value.

The country also imported 3.11 million tonnes of goods worth $7.149 billion from China, which marks 21.31 percent of Iran's total imports.

Iran's imports from the UAE and China witnessed a 67.85 percent and 65.99 percent rise respectively in terms of value in comparison with the first seven months of 2013.

India, South Korea and Turkey respectively exported $2.877 billion, $2.453 billion, and $2.270 billion worth of goods to Tehran.

India and Turkey's exports to Iran have increased by 34.28 percent and 16.41 percent respectively during the period, meanwhile the exports of South Korea to the country indicates a decline of 0.67 percent compared with the same period of preceding year.

Wheat worth $1.312 billion, motor vehicles with internal combustion engine worth $1.242 billion and rice worth $1.188 billion topped the list of Iran's imported goods.

The average price for each one tonne of Iran's imported goods in the mentioned period was $1381, which is 1.59 percent less than the previous year.

Iran's non-oil goods trade balance (excluding gas condensates), faced a $14.416 billion deficit in the first seven months of 2014, compared to $7.795 billion in the same period of 2013.

The country's non-oil exports (excluding condensates) surpassed $19.133 billion in the seven-month period, indicating an increase by 6.39 percent compared to the same period of the preceding year.

Iran's trade balance with 84 countries was positive, while with 93 countries it was negative.
