Azerbaijan, Iran to sign agreement on cooperation in ICT sphere

Azerbaijan and Iran will sign a bilateral interstate agreement on cooperation in the sphere of information and communication technologies (ICT), Azerbaijani Minister of Communications and High Technologies Ali Abbasov told reporters on Nov.7.

The minister said the details of the agreement will be discussed with Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technologies, co-chairman of Azerbaijan-Iran intergovernmental commission on cooperation in economic, trade and humanitarian spheres Mahmoud Vaezi in Baku on Nov.7.

"We are talking about signing of two documents. The first document envisages cooperation in the sphere of postal service, while the second - in the sphere of ICT in general," Abbasov said.

Additionally, the two countries plan to cooperate in the joint production of telecommunications equipment, broadcasting and media, satellite and postal service.

The issues of cooperation between the two countries in the sphere of postal service were discussed during the visit of Ali Abbasov to Iran on June 17-18.
