The number of unemployed in Turkey totaled 2.85 million as of 2014, a message posted on the website of Turkish Statistical Institute said on March 6.
The unemployment rate in Turkey was 9.6 percent in 2014.
The unemployment rate among men and women was 9 percent and 11.9 percent respectively during the reporting period.
Turkey's population reached 77,695,904 as of December 1, 2014.
Twenty-one percent, or 5.740 million people of the total number of working citizens in Turkey are employed in agriculture, 27.9 percent - in industry and 51.1 percent - in other spheres of economy.
