Turkmenistan increases int’l freight transport

The growth in the volume of cargo transportation by all types of transport was observed in Turkmenistan in January-July 2015, the country's State Statistics Committee said

The volume of work carried out through Turkmenistan's Railway Transport Ministry has reached 125.7 percent.

The services rendered through the Road Transport Ministry hit 124.6 percent during the reporting period. This figure totaled 103 percent and 101.1 percent in the spheres of cargo and passenger transportation, respectively.

The volume of aviation services rendered through Turkmenistan Airlines state national service hit 118.7 percent. This figure hit 100.8 percent and 100 percent in cargo and passenger transportation, respectively.

The volume of work carried out through the State Service for Maritime and River Transportation hit 130 percent during the reporting period.

This index in the cargo transportation sector amounted to 100.1 percent, while passenger transportation - 125 percent.

Turkmenistan shares borders with Kazakhstan, Iran, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan on land and with Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Iran on the Caspian Sea.

Turkmenistan has recently intensified the regional transport projects.

A ceremony of launching a new steel main pipeline Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran took place in December 2014.

Moreover, Turkmenistan Airlines currently makes flights to the UK, Germany, UAE, Turkey, India, France and a number of CIS countries.
