By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend:

Italian investors are interested in the acquisition of the Turkish electricity company Osmangazi Elektrik Dagitim AS, the Turkish newspaper HaberTurk said.

The Italian ENEL has already started negotiations for the acquisition of assets of Osmangazi Elektrik Dagitim AS.

Earlier, the Chinese CMEC held talks to acquire the assets of this Turkish company. But because of the high value of the assets of Osmangazi Elektrik Dagitim AS ($600 million), the talks were suspended.

Osmangazi Elektrik Dagitim AS was functioning in five provinces of Turkey, and the number of its subscribers was approximately two million.

In 2009, the company was put up for privatization and was estimated at $485 million. In 2010, Osmangazi Elektrik Dagitim AS was privatized by Turkish Yildizlar Holding.

After the company was unable to repay the debt (180 million YTL) to the Turkish State Electricity Trading Company (TETAS), the activity of Osmangazi Elektrik Dagitim AS was suspended.
