Azerbaijan reduces foreign trade

The Azerbaijani State Customs Committee announced a decrease in the volume of foreign trade operations by 32.83 percent in January-August 2015 compared to the same period of 2014, the committee said Sept. 29.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade partners for this period numbered 144 countries.

The total trade turnover of Azerbaijan hit $14.08 billion in January-August 2015, according to the report.

Black ink worth $2.3 billion was formed in foreign trade operations in January-August 2015.

Foreign trade surplus exceeded $9.7 billion in January-August 2014.

About 5,611 legal and physical entities were involved in foreign economic activities during this period, 3,075 being legal entities and 2,536 physical entities, according to the report.

Exports reached $8.18 billion in January-August 2015, which is 46.69 percent less compared to the same period of 2014.

The public sector share in export operations was estimated at $7.29 billion, the private sector share - $782.8 million and physical entities' share- $111.3 million.

Imports hit $5.9 billion as of January-August 2015, which is 5.09 percent more compared to the same period of 2014.

The public sector share in import operations was estimated at $1.1 billion, private sector share- $4.56 billion and physical entities share - $222.5 million.

At the same time, the volume of exports amounted to $711 million, while imports - $594.8 million in August 2015. As a result, a foreign trade surplus in the amount of $116.2 million was formed last month.

About 2,106 kinds of goods were exported from Azerbaijan and 5,797 imported to Azerbaijan in January-August 2015.
