US intends to expand co-op with Azerbaijan in non-oil sphere

The US is interested in developing the cooperation with Azerbaijan in non-oil sphere, Deputy Assistant of the US Secretary of Commerce Michael Lally told reporters Nov.19.

He made the remarks during Azerbaijan-US business forum with participation of the US businessmen delegation which is on a visit to the country.

Lally said that the delegation's visit is aimed at developing the trade and economic relations between the US and Azerbaijan and expand the cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries.

For this purpose, representatives of 15 US companies operating in various spheres have come to Azerbaijan, he added.

Today, the US companies are represented in Azerbaijan in the spheres of construction, industry, services, bank and insurance sectors, Lally said.

Speaking about the trade cooperation between the US and Azerbaijan, he pointed out that the trade turnover between the two countries stood at $2 billion in 2014.

Lally said that the US and Azerbaijan successfully cooperate in the aviation and space spheres as well.

He noted that the representatives of the US companies will hold around 100 meetings in Azerbaijan.
