Iran’s total gas exports near 160 bcm

Iran’s total gas exports reached 159.9 billion cubic meters (bcm) since the beginning of gas export until March 21, 2015, Iran's Oil Ministry announced in a report released on Feb. 3.

Iran's total gas exports reached 159.9 billion cubic meters (bcm) since the beginning of gas export until March 21, 2015, Iran's Oil Ministry announced in a report released on Feb. 3.

The report didn't say in which period the gas exports reached the mentioned level, but according to Statistics Center of Iran, the country exported 28.226 bcm from 1975 to 1980.

The report also doesn't contain the statistics for the periods before 1975 and after 2012.

From 1980 to 1990, Iran suspended gas export, but between 1990 and 1993 it exported 5.517 bcm of gas. In 1995, the country also exported 0.137 bcm.

The country restarted gas exports in 2001, after commissioning the Tabriz-Ankara pipeline.

According to Statistics Center's latest report, Iran exported 63.576 bcm of gas from 2001 to 2012. Therefore, between 1975 and 2012, the country's total gas export was 97.45 bcm.

Iranian Oil Ministry has said that over 33,400 km of gas network was constructed inside the country until March 20, 2015.

The ministry's report says the gas re-injection to oil fields has reached 2.634 trillion cubic meters since 1979.

The report also says that 22.5 million households were supplied with gas and the gas refining capacity reached 557.2 million cubic meters per day by March 20, 2015.

According to a report from the National Iranian Oil, Refinery and Distribution Company (NIORDC), the country consumed 472 million cubic meters per day of gas during last Iranian fiscal year, which ended on March 21, 2015, or about 12 percent more than the previous year.
