Kazakhmys increases copper production

Kazakhstan's 'Kazakhmys' mining corporation produced 55.500 tons of copper in cathode equivalent in the first quarter of 2016, or eight percent more than in the same period in 2015, the corporation said Apr.14.

Production of gold ingot by the corporation has increased by 95 percent and stood at 850 kg, while silver production grew by 12 percent and reached 69 tons.

The average copper content in the ore was 0.95 percent in the first quarter of 2016, or 0.88 percent higher than the average content of copper in the first quarter of 2015.

The concentrating mills of the 'Kazakhmys' corporation have processed 7.4 million tons of ore in the first quarter of 2016.

'Kazakhmys' corporation plans to produce 224,400 tons of copper in cathode equivalent in 2016.
