By Elena Kosolapova – Trend: The volume of stock trading on Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), decreased by 88.9 percent – to 96.9 billion tenges (93.8 percent decrease in US dollars to $285.2 million) in Jan. –Aug. 2016 compared to the same period of 2015, KASE reported.

Trading volume of public securities on KASE totaled 398.2 billion tenges in January-Aug. 2016, which is 0.4 percent more than in the same period 2015. Trading volume of public securities in US dollar equivalent decreased by 47 percent to $1.14 billion in the reporting period.

Trading volume of corporate bonds at KASE decreased by 43.1 percent and totaled 381.1 billion tenges in January-Aug. 2016 as compared to the same period of 2015. Trading volume of corporate bonds in US dollar equivalent decreased by 68.9 percent to $1.11 billion in this period.

The trade volume on repo operations at KASE increased by 2.2 times and totaled 40.59 trillion tenges during the reporting period, as compared to January-Aug. 2015. Repo operations in US dollar equivalent increased by 77.4 percent to $118.31 billion.
