Some 18.134,6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity was produced in Turkmenistan in the first nine months of 2016, said the report of the Oil and Gas Complex of Turkmenistan with reference to the country's State Statistics Committee.
“In comparison with January-September 2015, the volume of electricity production grew by almost 16 percent,” said the report.
The Mary region of Turkmenistan accounted for 34.4 percent, Ahal region - 20.7 percent, Balkan region - 18.8 percent of electricity in the regional structure of energy generation for the first nine months of 2016. Some 13.3 percent of all electricity produced in the country was generated in Ashgabat during this period.
Export of electricity for January-August 2016 amounted to 2. 477 billion kilowatt-hours, which is 19.9 percent more than in the same period of 2015, according to the report. The value of export amounted to $89.4 million.
It is planned to produce 23.689 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in Turkmenistan in 2016.
