Gambling business in Kazakhstan: less of revenue, paying more taxes

Companies and entrepreneurs engaged in organizing gambling decreased the services in physical terms by 20.3 percent in January-September, compared to the same period last year.

The sector has also decreased the level of services in 2016 by 37 percent, compared to the same period of 2015, Energy Prom reported.

The cost of gambling and betting activities was estimated at 12.2 billion tenge in 9 months of the current year, which is 15.2 percent less than in the same period of 2016.

The recession is observed both among small and large market participants. In particular, individual entrepreneurs this year rendered services worth 107.8 million tenge, which is 8.4 percent less than a year ago.

Despite the decline in the market activity, representatives of gambling business continue to increase their contribution to the economy of the country, paying more taxes.

In particular, following the results of 10 months of this year, the actual gambling tax revenues in Kazakhstan amounted to almost 9 billion tenge, which is 13.5 percent more than in the previous year.
